Also check out our other Hottest Products of 2007 posts and let us know which product you think is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Maybe it was even one of 2005's hottest products.

In the other pocket is your cell phone. The photos it takes are low res, but you don't have to upload them to your computer before sharing them with friends.

The Nikon Coolpix S51c is one of our hottest products of 2007 because it captures the best of both worlds. As a camera, it offers 8.1 megapixel resolution, which will stand up to coffee-table sized prints, in an elegant case that fits neatly in your shirt pocket.

Continue reading Hottest Products of 2007: Nikon Coolpix takes photo convenience online

Hottest Products of 2007: Nikon Coolpix takes photo convenience online originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 29 Nov 2007 13:55:00 EST. With the advent of the digital camera, Kodak's tried and true business model of cheap cameras and expensive film didn't translate too well. With lackluster digital offerings, especially when compared to its European and Japanese competitors, some worried Eastman-Kodak's (NYSE: EK) financial future wasn't exactly a "Kodak Moment." Now, it looks like Eastman-Kodak is kicking off a new digital push. Their new "fully featured" cams feature facial recognition, intelligent color metering, and integrated GPS.

Taking a page from "viral marketing 101," the company produced a pretty funny internal video, then posted it on YouTube.

Nice to see someone else hated the Advantix system... plus a resurgence of the "Kodak Moment" wouldn't be so bad. Although, I'm not sure the schmaltz really goes to 11 just yet; we'll have to see at next week's Consumer Electronics show.

[Via Engadget]
Kodak poised for a comeback? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 02 Jan 2007 10:15:00 EST. I'm certainly the worst kind of offender; my mom's been known to tell me that it still happened even if I didn't get a picture of it! (My answer: no it didn't!)

Is there a technology backlash? Are consumers deciding to forego the digitalization of every minute of their lives and just frickin' enjoy them for a minute? Ummm, nope. If the leaked sales for Black Friday are any indication, come New Year's Eve, there will be ever more amateurs making high-resolution memories of that New Year's kiss.

I remember it used to be $100 per megapixel, but now you can get massive resolution for a miniature price. But how many megapixels do you (and your gift-ees) need? And can you really get a good 6MP camera for $99?
