As a shareholder, I was very eager to see the data since the stock recently broke through the tough resistance level of $40. Would the recent rise in the stock be justified by the profit growth?<br />
<p>
You know, that just may be the case. According to the corporate <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/the-walt-disney-company-reports-first-quarter-earnings/rfid412693516/?channel=pf">press release</a>, on an adjusted basis, net income jumped 45% to 68 cents per share. Even better, the call was for <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/08/disney-expected-to-post-strong-q1-results/">56 cents</a> per share. That's a significant beat. As for the top line, it expanded by a healthy 10%.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/08/disney-beats-q1-estimates-stock-rises-is-it-overvalued/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Disney Beats Q1 Estimates, Stock Rises -- Is It Overvalued?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/08/disney-beats-q1-estimates-stock-rises-is-it-overvalued/">Disney Beats Q1 Estimates, Stock Rises -- Is It Overvalued?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:00:00 EST. Here are the highlights:</p>
<ul>
    <li><strong>Tuesday: </strong>Weekly chain-store sales</li>
    <li><strong>Wednesday: </strong>Federal budget balance for January</li>
    <li><strong>Thursday: </strong>Wholesale trade data in December</li>
    <li><strong>Friday:</strong> Trade balance in December and the weekly inflation survey</li>

<p>However, three iconic companies -- Walt Disney (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-walt-disney-company/dis/nys" class="inlinked" target="_blank">DIS</a>), Coca-Cola (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-coca-cola-company/ko/nys" class="inlinked" target="_blank">KO</a>) and Hasbro (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/hasbro-inc/has/nys" class="inlinked" target="_blank">HAS</a>) -- highlight this week's quarterly results. Here's a look at what analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are anticipating from these and others.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/06/week-in-preview-coca-cola-disney-and-hasbro-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Week in Preview: Coca-Cola, Disney and Hasbro Earnings</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/06/week-in-preview-coca-cola-disney-and-hasbro-earnings/">Week in Preview: Coca-Cola, Disney and Hasbro Earnings</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 06 Feb 2011 12:30:00 EST. <p>I am not as interested in the earnings results as I am in the news that my colleague Steven Mallas touched on in the first paragraph, the earnings were <a target="_blank" href="http://www.forbes.com/2010/11/11/disney-earnings-early-markets-equities-profit.html?">released earlier than expected</a>. The company was supposed to report the earnings after the closing bell sounded, but the results were leaked nearly 30 minutes ahead of the final bell.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-leak-of-earnings-report/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What's Behind the Leak of Disney's Earnings Report?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-leak-of-earnings-report/">What's Behind the Leak of Disney's Earnings Report?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 10:50:00 EST. At first glance, you might have believed, as I did, that the buying represented the immediate response to the fiscal fourth-quarter report, which was scheduled to come out after the market shut down for the day.</p>
<p>However, as this <a href="http://www.forbes.com/2010/11/11/disney-earnings-early-markets-equities-profit.html?"><em>Forbes</em></a> article highlights, the release came out earlier than expected, causing the stock to close down 2.8% by the conclusion of the regular session, presenting a very interesting scenario for the traders who were quick to react to the situation.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-down-then-up-following-earnings-release/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Disney Down, Then Up, Following Earnings Release</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-down-then-up-following-earnings-release/">Disney Down, Then Up, Following Earnings Release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 09:30:00 EST. I've been critical of Disney, especially when it comes to the shareholder-friendly notion of a higher dividend. However, I have to say, I liked the quarter.<br />
<br />
Net income of 67 cents per share beat the consensus estimate by nine pennies. Furthermore, free cash flow increased 21% in Q3 and jumped 25% during the nine-month period, according to the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/the-walt-disney-company-reports-third-quarter-earnings/rfid356581341/?channel=pf">press release</a>. The individual operating segments did very well, although the theme-parks division did see an 8% decrease in profit. It would be nice to get some positive income from interactive media instead of a loss.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/11/disneys-q3-earnings-not-bad-but-shareholders-need-more/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Disney's Q3 Earnings: Not Bad, but Shareholders Need More</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/11/disneys-q3-earnings-not-bad-but-shareholders-need-more/">Disney's Q3 Earnings: Not Bad, but Shareholders Need More</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 11 Aug 2010 09:00:00 EST.
