<p>I am not as interested in the earnings results as I am in the news that my colleague Steven Mallas touched on in the first paragraph, the earnings were <a target="_blank" href="http://www.forbes.com/2010/11/11/disney-earnings-early-markets-equities-profit.html?">released earlier than expected</a>. The company was supposed to report the earnings after the closing bell sounded, but the results were leaked nearly 30 minutes ahead of the final bell.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-leak-of-earnings-report/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What's Behind the Leak of Disney's Earnings Report?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/disney-leak-of-earnings-report/">What's Behind the Leak of Disney's Earnings Report?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 10:50:00 EST. These results are up from 42 cents a year ago, and are four cents better than the consensus estimate. BIG tallied quarterly sales of $1.14 billion, down from $1.15 billion a year ago. Comparable-store sales slipped 0.5% during the quarter.</p>
<p>BIG forecast second-quarter earnings of <a href="http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/ap/_a/big-lots-raises-full-year-earnings/rfid217782529">26 to 32 cents per share</a>. On average, analysts expected 30 cents per share. This outlook assumes that BIG's same-store sales will fall 1% to 3% during the quarter.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/05/28/big-lots-tops-expectations-boosts-full-year-forecast/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Big Lots tops expectations, boosts full-year forecast</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/05/28/big-lots-tops-expectations-boosts-full-year-forecast/">Big Lots tops expectations, boosts full-year forecast</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 09:40:00 EST. WFC's preliminary first-quarter earnings are 55 cents per share, compared to 60 cents per share a year ago. These figures are after "preferred dividends," which include $372 million in dividends paid to the government - these charges are taken into account. <br /><br />The early reports of earnings of 55 cents per share are far better than the consensus estimate for 31 cents per share. WFC added that total revenue for the quarter should be $20 billion.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/04/09/wells-fargo-issues-an-early-earnings-surprise-boosting-the-mark/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wells Fargo issues an early earnings surprise, boosting the market</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/04/09/wells-fargo-issues-an-early-earnings-surprise-boosting-the-mark/">Wells Fargo issues an early earnings surprise, boosting the market</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 09 Apr 2009 09:00:00 EST. As I had discussed last night in <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/11/29/tiffany-tif-sells-off-ahead-of-tomorrows-earnings-announcemen/">my earnings preview</a>, analysts had only been expecting to see the jewelry and luxury goods retailer show earnings of 25 cents per share. Included in the company's figures were 48 cents per share related to the sale-<a target="_blank" href="http://www.investorwords.com/2750/leaseback.html">leaseback</a> of the company's Tokyo flagship store. Excluding that, profit was 23 cents.<br /><br />The company posted an 18% jump in sales during the quarter, helped by 9% increase in same-store sales.<br /> <br /> Looking ahead to the company's full year numbers, Tiffany boosted its outlook from $2.22 to $2.27 per share upwards to a range of $2.25 to $2.30 per share.<br /> <br /> Shares are currently trading up $2.25 to $51.00.<br /> <br /> [photo : <strong><a style="text-decoration: none;" href="http://flickr.com/photos/77965970@N00/">hazydz</a></strong>]<br /> <br /> <em><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/bloggers/eliza-popescu">Eliza Popescu </a>is a financial writer for the online investment advisory service <a href="http://www.iotogo.com/aolblogELZ">Investor's Observer</a>.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/11/30/tiffany-q3-earnings-shine-bright/">Tiffany earnings shine bright</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 30 Nov 2007 09:13:00 EST.
