The Buyback Premium Portfolio is beating the S&P 500 by more than 65% since its inception (August 2, 2000)! This portfolio is up 54.48% since inception (August 2, 2000) vs. a decline of 10.56% in the S&P 500 over the same time frame. We hope that you are participating in these profits. For the month of January 2011, The Buyback Premium Portfolio gained 1.18% vs. a gain of 2.27% in the S&P 500.

Continue reading David Fried's Buyback Premium Portfolio: Mid-Month Update

David Fried's Buyback Premium Portfolio: Mid-Month Update originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Fri, 18 Feb 2011 16:00:00 EST. Short interest on Forest has jumped 410.4%, or 14,253,017 shares -- rising from a previous short-interest level of 3,473,213 shares to the current level of 17,726,230 shares -- during the past few weeks.

Based on the average trading volume for Forest, it will take short sellers 4 days to cover their short positions if they wanted to completely reverse their trades. Seeing a jump in short interest like this is a clear indication there is a growing number of traders out there who believe Forest is going to be moving lower in the near future. In fact, it shows they believe it enough to put their money where their mouth is.
Continue reading Short Sellers Piling on Forest Laboratories

Short Sellers Piling on Forest Laboratories originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 01 Jul 2010 17:50:00 EST. Meanwhile, investors' focus is also on the airline and retail sectors as rumors about merger talks between two airlines surfaced late Wednesday and retailers are reporting March sales this morning.
U.S. stocks retreated Wednesday and may continue to pull back Thursday after nearly two months of continuous gains. European shares declined again on mounting worries about Greece's financial predicament, especially as the country's borrowing costs keep climbing. Meanwhile, The European Central Bank and the Bank of England have kept their benchmark interest rate unchanged, at record lows.
Continue reading Before the Bell: Futures Lower Despite Strong March Retail Sales

Before the Bell: Futures Lower Despite Strong March Retail Sales originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 08 Apr 2010 08:30:00 EST. TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer says they're too important to just let them go.

You never want to buck the financials. I have said over and over again that the group is too important to make let go. Can we really envision a world without Citigroup (NYSE: C) (Cramer's Take) and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) (Cramer's Take) common stock?
Forest Labs pleased investors last week when it reported Q3 EPS of 96 cents and revenues of $998.2 million. Analysts had been looking for 75 cents and $946.6 million. Management also guided FY08 EPS to $3.35-$3.45, above prior guidance of $3.10-$3.20 and Street consensus of $3.06. The CEO noted that the company expects to report clinical trial results for several late-stage products during the remainder of the calendar year. Lehman Brothers, Roth Capital and AmTech Research subsequently reiterated "buy" ratings on the stock. Raymond James initiated the shares with a "strong buy." The shares popped into a bullish "flag" consolidation pattern on the news. Prices frequently exit flags moving in the same direction they were traveling on entry. In this case, that would be to the upside.

Altogether, brokers now recommend the issue with eleven "strong buys," ten "buys," twelve "holds" and one "sell." The stock's Price Book ratio (3.90), EPS Growth rate (23.35%), Operating Margin (22.46%) and Net Profit Margin (14.94%) compare favorably with industry, sector and S&P 500 averages. Institutional investors hold about 95% of the outstanding shares. The stock is one of those used to calculate the S&P 500 Index. Over the past 52 weeks, it has traded between $34.89 and $57.97. A stop-loss of $33.95 looks good here.
