- According to the Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Apple Inc's (NASDAQ: AAPL) Steve Jobs helped to negotiate a Pixar employment pact with a film director that included an options grant with a "well-timed date". Also featured in the Journal:
- EMI Group plc (OTC: EMIPY) has been holding talks with online retailers over the possibility of selling its entire digital music catalog in an unprotected MP3 format.
- Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) is expected to raise as much as $19B for its newest private-equity fund.
- The Financial Times (subscription required) reported that Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) broadened corruption inquiries and has identified individual incidents of apparent bribery.

- According to the Detroit News, DaimlerChrysler AG (NYSE: DCX) is expected to eliminate about 1,000 salaried jobs in Michigan.
- Asian IT website DigiTimes.com reported that Samsung introduced the Ultra Smart F700 yesterday. The phone is being referred to as a possible "iPhone Killer."

- The Financial Times (subscription required) wrote that Citigroup Inc (NYSE: C) has shaken up its top management structure, giving senior status to executives outside New York in a move to recognize the bank's growth prospects abroad.
- Barron's Online's (subscription required) "Weekday Trader" was positive on Teva Pharmaceutical Industries ADS (NASDAQ: TEVA), writing that despite challenges in 2007, the company could win back its crown.
OTHER PAPERS:
- The Globe and Mail reported that DaimlerChrysler AG's (NYSE: DCX) Chrysler Group will eliminate 20%, or 2,000, of its 10,000 jobs in Canada.
- According to French paper Les Echoes (in French), Alcatel-Lucent ADS (NYSE: ALU) is expected to announce 12,000-13,000 job cuts, or more than 15% of its work force.
- Technology website CNet.com reported that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) will release Windows 6, the latest software for powering mobile phones, on Monday.
- Investor's Business Daily's "New America" column was positive on bed manufacturer Tempur-Pedic International Inc (NYSE: TPX), which makes visco-elastic foam mattresses. The company has been able to stay in front by doubling its R&D and increasing its ad spending.

- The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reported that Saudi Arabia is cutting oil output by an additional 158,000 barrels a day, part of a broader campaign by OPEC to shrink inventories and shore up prices.
- Also in the Journal, Delta Air Lines (OTC: DALRQ) said that if it defeats U.S. Airways Group Inc's (NYSE: LCC) hostile takeover it won't rule out possibly merging with another airline.
- The Financial Times Deutschland (subscription required) reported that Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) is in talks with Gazprom over a joint development.

- The Economic Times noted that Standard & Poor's raised India's debt rating to investment grade for the first time in 14 years on the strength of record growth and foreign exchange reserves.
- The New York Times wrote that Sony Corporation (NYSE: SNE) profits fell on losses for PlayStation 3 as the company faulted a strategic decision to set the price of PS 3 below the cost of production as a way to bolster market share.

- XM Satellite Radio has softened its stance about a possible deal with Sirius Satellite Radio, but any deal between the companies would face obstacles from the FCC.
- Starbucks Corp (NASDAQ: SBUX) rival Dunkin' Donuts plans to open its first store in Taiwan today as part of a regional push into mainland China. Starbucks also has expansion plans for China.
- Commerce Bancorp (NYSE: CBH) is under federal investigation by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve, due to the company's transactions with bank insiders.
- The Financial Times (subscription required) wrote that handset maker Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE, NASDAQ: ERIC) moved closed to pushing aside Samsung for third place in market share behind Nokia Corp (NYSE: NOK) and Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT); last year it overtook LG Electronics.
