The article received a large readership.

I did an experiment to find out what, if any, impact the title might have had on the hit rate. A few days after the original post was published I sent out three separate blog entries with either Sex, Jokes, or dividends highlighted in the headline. It should not surprise anyone that the hit rate favored 1) sex, then 2) jokes, and then 3) dividends.

So, while my experiment was highly unscientific, my conclusion is that adding sex to an article does pay a dividend.

Furthermore I'm glad my readers have a sense of humor. If you want to read a great joke with some VALUE and have not yet read the joke blog, go to: Assessing your investing IQ: More on Jokes - Blogging Stocks

And if you have not read my post on dividends go read it! : my original post

While I'm sure the word sex got most peoples attention, for those of you that tuned into the word 'joke' I thought I would share one of the best jokes on value I have heard. This came to me from my 13-year-old son.

A lonely old widower walks in to a pet store hoping to find companionship in a bird. He spots a brightly colored red parrot and asks the shopkeeper how much it costs and is told $10,000. "WOW," the old man gasps, "what is so special about this bird?"

The shopkeeper informs him that this bird has memorized the entire Torah backwards and forwards and can recite any portion at will. "That's some bird," says the old man.

Having a limited budget he inquires about a smaller, but still quite pretty, blue parrot. The shopkeeper tells him that this parrot would cost $20,000. "Oh my," says the old man putting his hand to his forehead. "Why is this parrot so expensive?"

Continue reading Assessing your investing IQ: More on Jokes

Assessing your investing IQ: More on Jokes originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Tue, 06 Jun 2006 18:00:00 EST.
I assume the word sex is likely to attract the most people's attention and there is nothing more to be said about that here.

But if you did not read my original post on dividends then you should.
I assume the word 'sex' is likely to attract the most people's attention, but the most important word is dividends. And if you don't learn more about this, then you are joking when it comes to investing. Whatever sex appeal you have will fade, and you will be poorer and wondering why.

So go back and reread my post on dividends! You won't regret it.
