Market highlights for next week: Texas Instruments mid-quarter update

Monday March 12
  • Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN) mid-quarter update conference call at 5pm. Note that Stifel just upgraded Texas Instruments to Buy from Hold as they believe the mid-quarter update will show improving trends.
Tuesday March 13
  • Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:GS) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 4:30pm.
  • Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM) to hold annual shareholder meeting at 11:30am.
  • PDUFA Date for GlaxoSmithKline plc ADR's (NYSE:GSK) Tykerb, a breast cancer drug.
Wednesday March 14
  • Retailers Hot Topic Inc. (NASDAQ:HOTT) and Zumiez Inc (NASDAQ:ZUMZ) to report earnings. Hot Topic's Q4 conference call is at 4:30pm, Zumiez's Q4 conference call is at 5pm.
  • PDUFA Date for Novartis AG ADS's (NYSE:NVS) Tekturna, a treatment for high blood pressure.
Thursday March 15
  • Bayer AG ADS (NYSE:BAY) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 6am.
  • Six Flags Inc (NYSE:SIX) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 4pm. Note that earlier this week, Cramer specified Six Flags as a stock he was bullish on during the "Lightning Round" of his Mad Money television show.
Friday March 16
  • IMAX Corp (NASDAQ:IMAX) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 8:30am.
  • AnnTaylor Stores Corporation (NYSE:ANN) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 8:30am.

Monday March 5
  • Landstar Systems Inc (NASDAQ: LSTR) to hold Q1 mid-quarter update conference call at 2pm.
  • Federal Reserve St Louis Bank President William Poole to speak at 11am, Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh to speak at 2pm.
Tuesday March 6
  • International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT), a "global company specializing in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and sales of computerized gaming machines and systems products," to hold its annual shareholder meeting at 1pm.
Wednesday March 7
  • Saks Inc (NYSE: SKS) to hold Q4 earnings conference call at 10am.
  • PDUFA date for Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) Humira, a Tumor Necrosis Factor blocker, which is used to reduce the signs and symptoms of arthritis.
  • PDUFA date for Merck and Co Incs (NYSE: MRK) Janumet, a treatment for Type 2 Diabetes.
Thursday March 8
  • Monthly Same Store Sales to be reported by Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE: WMT), Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT), Aeropostale Inc (NYSE: ARO), Kohl's Corporation (NYSE: KSS), Pacific Sunwear of California Inc (NASDAQ: PSUN), Abercrombie & Fitch Co (NYSE: ANF), Gap Inc (NYSE: GPS) Nordstrom Inc (NYSE: JWN) and J.C. Penney Co Inc (NYSE: JCP).
Friday March 9
  • PDUFA date for Eli Lilly and Company's (NYSE: LLY) Cymbalta, a treatment for depression.

Market highlights for next week: XM and Sirius reporting

Monday February 26
  • XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: XMSR) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 10am. Analysts will review XM's overall subscribers, new subscribers, retention rates, average monthly fees, pricing plans, new broadcast content agreements, marketing strategy, operating costs, sector position, and margins. Equally significant, Wall Street will also pay very close attention to management's operational posture moving forward, in light of its proposed merger agreement with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc (NASDAQ: SIRI).
Tuesday February 27
  • Sirius Satellite Radio to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 8am. The concerns for Sirius mirror the previously mentioned concerns for XM.
Wednesday February 28
  • PDUFA Date for Novartis AG ADS's (NYSE: NVS) Galvus, an innovative oral therapy for people with type 2 diabetes.
Thursday March 1
  • Echostar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 12pm. Analysts will focus on Echostar's success at adding value to its offerings, amid intensifying competition from digital cable and communications companies offering TV services.
  • PDUFA date for New River Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: NRPH) and Shire plc ADS's (NASDAQ: SHPGY) Vyvanse, for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder [ADHD].
  • PDUFA date for Merck Serono SA ADS's (NYSE: SRA) Serostim, a treatment for AIDs wasting.
Friday March 2
  • THQ Inc (NASDAQ: THQI) to hold analyst meeting in San Fransisco, CA.

Market highlights For next week: eBay reporting Q4 earnings Wednesday

January's earnings period continues, with Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN), Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW), eBay Inc (NASDAQ: EBAY), AT&T (NYSE: T) and Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) all reporting this upcoming week.

Monday January 22

  • Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) to hold a strategic update meeting at 1pm. Deutsche Bank believes the meeting will focus on Exubera and will discuss the drug positively.
  • Target (NYSE: TGT) to hold its January mid-month sales call at 4pm. Investors will be looking at the strength of sales after the holiday season.
  • Texas Instruments to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 5:30pm. The focus here will be on the company's product mix, cost controls, market penetration rates, and margins. Additionally, the Street will also be looking at Texas Instruments' comments on product development and the future role it sees for semiconductors, particularly in wireless devices.
  • FDA PDUFA date for Wyeth's (NYSE: WYE) Desvenlafaxine.

Tuesday January 23

  • Sun Microsystems to report Q2 earnings; conference call at 4:30pm.
  • FDA PDUFA Date for GlaxoSmithKline's (NYSE: GSK) Coreg

Wednesday January 24

  • eBay to report Q4 earnings. Investors will look for comments on sales during the 2006 holiday season, the recent acquisition of Stubhub.com and the performance of Paypal.com against fledgling challenger Google Checkout.
  • Atlantic City Council Meeting to hold vote on smoking ban at 5pm. If passed, this would be a negative for the casino sector, as it would ban smoking on the floors of Atlantic City casinos.

Thursday January 25

  • AT&T to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 10am.
  • Icos Corp (NASDAQ: ICOS) to hold a special shareholder meeting at 2pm to vote on the revised merger agreement with Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY). Note that HealthCor Management, which holds a 5.24% stake in Icos, plans to vote against the proposed acquisition.

Friday January 26

  • Halliburton to report Q4 earnings; conference call at 10am. Investors will be looking for comments on oil services, as well as new contracts relating to government services.

Market highlights for next week: Apple reporting Q1 earnings Wednesday

January's earnings period is heating up, with Apple and Motorola reporting this upcoming week. Also there are two more interesting industry conferences coming on the heels of the CES and Macworld.

Monday January 15
  • The 96th Annual National Retail Federation Conference will be held in N.Y.
  • The North American International Auto Show 2007 will be held in Detroit.
Tuesday January 16
  • US Bancorp (NYSE: USB) will report Q4 earnings, conference call at 2pm. The bank is expected to report solid EPS but declining revenue. Wall Street will be looking to evaluate USB's comments on where it sees the U.S. economy heading in 2007.
  • American Power Conversion (NASDAQ: APCC) will hold a special shareholder meeting at 2pm to vote on the proposed merger with Schneider Electric.
Wednesday January 17
  • Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) will report Q1 2007 earnings, conference call at 5pm. Investors and analysts will be looking for further details and clarification on the iPhone, and will also be looking to see how much progress the company's Macs are making against rival PCs.
  • Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) will hold its annual investor meeting at 3pm in St. Louis. Investors will be waiting to hear any news on the merger with Delta & Pine Land (NYSE: DLP), which was announced last August, but has been delayed by antitrust concerns.
Thursday January 18
  • Harley Davidson Inc (NYSE: HOG) will report its Q4 2006 earnings, conference call at 9am. The focus of the report will be the company's inventory, order backlog and its ability to keep up with customer demand. Wall Street will also be looking at Harley Davidson's ability to reduce the time it takes to get new motorcycles to market.
Friday January 19
  • Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) will report its Q4 2006 earnings, conference call at 7:30am. Investors will look to see if Motorola's earnings release does anything to ease concerns brought on by two recent downgrades, from Buy to Neutral/Hold, one which claimed "uncertainty over U.S. market share trends in 2007."
