    <li><strong>Wednesday: </strong>Federal budget balance for January</li>
    <li><strong>Thursday: </strong>Wholesale trade data in December</li>
    <li><strong>Friday:</strong> Trade balance in December and the weekly inflation survey</li>

But the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/charts/intel-corporation/intc/nas/tech-chart">one-year chart</a> isn't so encouraging for investors. In August, <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/27/intel-should-you-be-a-bull-or-a-bear-on-the-stock/">I wrote a piece</a> that was, at best, extremely hesitant on the short-term prospects for the equity. Long-term, I'm certainly more bullish; how can you not be on a business like Intel, right? <br />
<br />
The shares closed today's regular session at $19.76, which represented a gain of about 1%. The 52-week low for the stock is $17.60, while the 52-week high is $24.37. I'd say that places the market more on the bearish side of the aisle. But the company just reported earnings for the third quarter. What do they tell us about the situation?</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/12/intel-reports-q3-results/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel Reports Q3 Results</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/12/intel-reports-q3-results/">Intel Reports Q3 Results</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 12 Oct 2010 18:00:00 EST. I've been pretty positive on the company so far this year. But we all know how Wall Street can play havoc with the emotions. No matter whether you're a long-term investor or a short-term trader, price action can shake you up.</p>
<p>The chip maker's recent price action has been terrible. Even worse, the fundamentals have to be questioned as well. According to <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/company-news/intel-lowers-third-quarter-revenue-forecast/19610936/">this source</a>, third-quarter guidance took a hit.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/27/intel-should-you-be-a-bull-or-a-bear-on-the-stock/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel: Should You Be a Bull or a Bear on the Stock?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/27/intel-should-you-be-a-bull-or-a-bear-on-the-stock/">Intel: Should You Be a Bull or a Bear on the Stock?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 27 Aug 2010 18:00:00 EST. Boosted by likely FY2010/FY2011 EPS <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s=mfe">of $2.57 to $2.85</a>, McAfee probably would have re-tested $45 later this year, assuming the U.S. economic recovery remained intact, then took on the $50 hurdle in 2011.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/24/intel-s-buy-of-mcafee-unexpected-but-pleasant/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel's Buy of McAfee: Unexpected, but Pleasant</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/24/intel-s-buy-of-mcafee-unexpected-but-pleasant/">Intel's Buy of McAfee: Unexpected, but Pleasant</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 24 Aug 2010 15:00:00 EST. <p>This move comes as a bit of a surprise, as some analysts and investors believe the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/glossary/Acquisition" class="inlinked">acquisition</a> shows the importance that computing firms are applying to security. Intel noted that more "elements of our lives have moved online," meaning that security will become a "third pillar of what people demand from all computing experiences." Intel said that the deal "elevates focus on security on par with energy-efficient performance and connectivity." Bottom line: Intel wants to protect customers who are taking advantage of our new online lifestyle.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/19/intel-to-acquire-mcafee/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel to Purchase McAfee</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/19/intel-to-acquire-mcafee/">Intel to Purchase McAfee</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 19 Aug 2010 12:30:00 EST. PIMCO's Bill Gross calls it a <a href="http://247wallst.com/2010/07/30/pimcos-bill-gross-confirms-slower-growth-ahead-for-years/">long protracted period of slow growth</a>. Today was lighter than normal on the earnings news, and the final verdict over a green or red ticker at the close was not clear until the final minutes today. <br />

Here, they look at three favorite technology stocks: Cisco Systems (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/cisco-systems-inc/csco/nas">CSCO</a>), IBM (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/international-business-machines-corporation/ibm/nys">IBM</a>) and McAfee (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/mcafee-inc/mfe/nys">MFE</a>).<br />
<br />
They explains, "Global Internet traffic is projected to grow 40 to 50 percent annually for the foreseeable future. According to Cisco, wireless data traffic is growing at an annualized rate of more than 130 percent, solid fundamentals. <br />
<br />
"In the first quarter, 82 percent of S&amp;P 500 companies beat earnings estimates, whereas 90 percent of the index's technology names though it accounts for less than 1 percent of total traffic.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/24/cisco-csco-ibm-ibm-and-mcafee-mfe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Technology Favorites: Cisco (CSCO), IBM (IBM) and McAfee (MFE)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/24/cisco-csco-ibm-ibm-and-mcafee-mfe/">Technology Favorites: Cisco (CSCO), IBM (IBM) and McAfee (MFE)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 24 Jun 2010 10:00:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/mcafee-inc/mfe/nys">MFE</a>), first discussed here <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/07/05/mcafee-knows-system-security-pays-off-in-the-long-run/">on July 5, 2009</a> at a price of $40.82, continues to exhibit sideways action, but I still like the shares. Here's why: <br />
<br />
Look for McAfee's revenue to increase 10% to 15% in 2010, as the slow recovery in IT spending continues. Further, companies have delayed upgrading their IT networks for an extended period, hence this should serve as a decent tailwind for MFE in the second half of 2010. Of course, there are no guarantees.<br />
<br />
The company also has ample room to increase market share in key markets, and margins should also inch higher in 2010. The First Call FY2010/FY2011 EPS estimates for MFE <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s=MFE+Analyst+Estimates">are $2.70 to $3.01</a>.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/29/mcafee-continues-to-meander/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McAfee Continues to Meander</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/29/mcafee-continues-to-meander/">McAfee Continues to Meander</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 29 Apr 2010 14:30:00 EST. A hold rating had been issued <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/11/13/mcafee-hold-shares/#continued">on November 13, 2009</a>, after McAfee's stock chart formed a short-term <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=mfe&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/delisted_symbol%3fSymbol%3dwfe%26Event%3ddetails">double-top </a>at $46.<p>
However, McAfee's chart is now showing signs that it will hold support <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=mfe&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/delisted_symbol%3fSymbol%3dwfe%26Event%3ddetails">at or near $37, </a>hence the upgrade to buy.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/02/02/mcafee-upgraded-to-buy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McAfee: Upgraded to Buy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/02/02/mcafee-upgraded-to-buy/">McAfee: Upgraded to Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 02 Feb 2010 10:30:00 EST.
