It seemed time for an update.<br />
<br />
I'm into Anglo for $9.80 a share and a spot check has it trading at $23.00 per share in morning trading; a nice 135% return. It was much easier to recommend the stock before. Now that AAUKY is hovering around it's 52-week high of $23.55, it's a tough call. It certainly is not a value play now.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/28/chasing-value-anglo-american-gold-or-something-else/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chasing Value: Anglo American, Gold or Something Else</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/28/chasing-value-anglo-american-gold-or-something-else/">Chasing Value: Anglo American, Gold or Something Else</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 28 Oct 2010 14:00:00 EST. <br />
The money manager and editor of <a href="http://www.adriandayglobalanalyst.com/">The Global Analyst</a> explains, "We note that Silver Wheaton is not a mining company. Instead, in a business model similar to a royalty model, it acquires the stream of revenue from the silver output of other miners.<br />
<br />
"The company usually enters these arrangements with miners for whom silver is a by-product. In a typical arrangement, Silver Wheaton pays a certain amount up-front plus a per ounce payment in exchange for all the revenue from the silver output.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/28/royalty-model-boosts-silver-wheaton-slw/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Royalty Model Boosts Silver Wheaton (SLW)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/28/royalty-model-boosts-silver-wheaton-slw/">Royalty Model Boosts Silver Wheaton (SLW)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 28 Jul 2010 15:30:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/joy-global-inc/joyg/nas">JOYG</a>), first discussed here <a href="http:// http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/03/08/capitalize-on-globalization-with-joy-global/#continued">on June 15, 2009</a>, at a price of $38.05, have pulled-back in-sync with the Dow's recent downdraft, but that doesn't change the company's promising future. Here's why: <br />
<br />
A manufacturer and servicer of mining equipment, Joy Global is on-track to capitalize on the development of emerging markets, and that should drive impressive gains in orders, revenue, and margins. Even with sovereign debt issues clouding the European GDP growth story, global GDP growth still should be adequate, with impressive growth in Asia, provided Europe's woes do not substantially decrease the supply of credit globally.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/07/is-now-a-good-time-to-scoop-up-shares-of-joy-global/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Is Now a Good Time to Scoop Up Shares of Joy Global?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/07/is-now-a-good-time-to-scoop-up-shares-of-joy-global/">Is Now a Good Time to Scoop Up Shares of Joy Global?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 07 Jun 2010 17:00:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-05-05/rio-puts-some-projects-on-hold-because-of-profit-tax-update1-.html">a report from Bloomberg</a>, "Rio has plans to suspend an A$11 billion ($10 billion) expansion of its iron ore operations in Western Australia."<br />
<br />
What does this mean to the company's investors? Really, not much. This move represents no fundamental change to Rio Tinto. It's merely a change in schedule. The item of concern here is the proposed tax itself. Bloomberg states: "The tax may reduce Rio's earnings by 21 percent and earnings at Melbourne-based BHP by 17 percent in 2013, according to UBS AG estimates."<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/06/rio-tinto-clamps-down-in-australia/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rio Tinto Clamps Down in Australia</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/06/rio-tinto-clamps-down-in-australia/">Rio Tinto Clamps Down in Australia</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 06 May 2010 12:00:00 EST.
