Such is the case with smart phones. Entrepreneurs have found a way to facilitate buying with your smart phone. Companies like Intuit (INTU) and VeriFone (PAY) have created a card reader that can be inserted into your iPhone (AAPL) or other smart phone. Then you can swipe a credit card through the reader and use it to make online purchases.

The potential of this new technology is enormous. Analysts estimate that the industry will grow to $11 billion this year.

Continue reading Card Readers to Generate $11 Billion in Sales

Card Readers to Generate $11 Billion in Sales originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 14 Feb 2011 09:40:00 EST. Here's a new technology that is close to being from The Twilight Zone.

The new technology is "glowing wallpaper." The UK has given a Welsh company, Lomox, £454,000 to develop "light emitting wallpaper." The project is called the Carbon Trust.

Continue reading Why Not Light Up Your Room with Wallpaper?

Why Not Light Up Your Room with Wallpaper? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Sun, 03 Jan 2010 16:10:00 EST. (AAPL) shares hit an all-time high thanks to a published report hinting that another product announcement may be rolling in. On December 23, the Financial Times reported on its Tech Blog that Apple "has something big up its sleeve for next month."

The main reason for this speculation is that the tech company has booked a stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in San Francisco for "several days in late January." Apple has used this venue to make major announcements in the past, and the speculation is that Apple is going to make a major product announcement at the end of January. The blog quoted Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster as saying, "We believe there is a 75 per cent likelihood that Apple will have an event in January and a 50 per cent chance that it will be held to launch the Apple Tablet."

Continue reading Apple Stock Higher Amid Rumors of a New Product

Apple Stock Higher Amid Rumors of a New Product originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Mon, 28 Dec 2009 16:30:00 EST. The answer is yes. Researchers at the University of Bristol, England, who are studying the shrimp's eye have found a way to create a better DVD.

How is this possible? Scientists discovered that the Mantis shrimp, found off the coast of Australia, can see in 12 primary colors, four times that of humans. The shrimp's eye can detect different kinds of light polarization which is the direction of oscillation in light waves.

(The shock jock isn't judging; he has at least two of his own.)

His theory rang a bit familiar ... when I was 26 (old enough to know better), I got some "ink" of my own. Two of my best friends were about to move away, my parents had recently relocated from our mutual hometown, and my boyfriend had unceremoniously ended our relationship. At the time, I had my lower back branded with the orange-and-blue "V" and sabers that trademark the University of Virginia, my alma mater. I did so while repeating three mantras I considered to be quite wise at the time.

First, my tattoo of choice wasn't a capricious decision ... I will always be a UVa alum, and I will remain proud of that fact. Secondly, while larger than I wanted (the artist talked me into a bigger size, noting that it would be "framed by my entire body" -- famous last words), it is in a spot not normally visible in the workplace or in a cocktail dress. Finally, as I flippantly told my friends and my displeased elder relatives, "When I'm 60 and ready to be rid of this thing, they'll have technology where I can just wipe it off, no problem."

Continue reading Hottest Products of 2007: Tattoos that wipe clean in one fell swoop?

Hottest Products of 2007: Tattoos that wipe clean in one fell swoop? originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 22 Nov 2007 19:10:00 EST.
