<br />
However, those investors who can tolerate the risk can consider maintaining their full PHG position, to go for an even bigger gain.<br />
<br />
Fundamentally, Philips remains attractive. Philips, one of the world's largest lighting/electronics and medical diagnostic equipment manufacturers, will benefit from the emerging market development wave, where sales are likely to increase at double digit rates in 2011 and 2012.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/09/is-philips-headed-to-40-and-beyond/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Is Philips Headed to $40 and Beyond?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/09/is-philips-headed-to-40-and-beyond/">Is Philips Headed to $40 and Beyond?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 09 Mar 2011 15:00:00 EST. Even so, just look on that sideways action as an opportunity to scoop-up shares of a premiere company.</p>

Koninklijke Philips Electronics (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/koninklijke-philips-electronics-n-v/phg/nys">PHG</a>), commonly known as Philips, is in the catbird seat regarding more-efficient lighting, which is a major reason why I'm reiterating my buy rating for the company, first recommended <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/09/24/philips-knows-its-light-tech-investments-will-pay-off/#continued">on June 2, 2009</a>, at a price of $20.30. If you bought Philips in June, you're up an impressive 45%. <br /><br />Philips is restructuring three business units to lower costs, but the key value-adders here are two businesses -- lighting and health care equipment -- both will benefit from substantial, favorable, global trends.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/07/philips-back-up-the-truck/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Philips: Back up the truck</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/07/philips-back-up-the-truck/">Philips: Back up the truck</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 07 Dec 2009 09:20:00 EST. Blow the <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/tag/Christmas/">Christmas</a> rush, and next year starts off on a miserable foot. Success, of course, also delivers a healthy dose of momentum -- and a little bit of wiggle room, important in what will continue to be a tough economy through at least the first half of next year. For <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/tag/booksellers/">booksellers</a>, now contending with a new variable in the form of digital readers, <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/ousivMolt/idUSTRE59I01I20091019?pageNumber=2&amp;virtualBrandChannel=0" target="_blank">e-readers will play a major role in defining the winners and losers</a>. So far, it looks like <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/amazon-com-inc/amzn/nas" target="_blank">Amazon</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/amazon-com-inc/amzn/nas" target="_blank">AMZN</a>) is off to a great start, and it will take some genuine innovation for the competition to chip away at its market share.</p>
<p><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/barnes-and-noble-inc/bks/nys" target="_blank">Barnes &amp; Noble</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/barnes-and-noble-inc/bks/nys" target="_blank">BKS</a>), once the leading names in literary retail, is expected to release its own e-reader this week. It will look a bit like Amazon's Kindle, <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/ousivMolt/idUSTRE59I01I20091019?pageNumber=2&amp;virtualBrandChannel=0" target="_blank">according to Reuters</a>, but with a touch screen intended to make the reader's experience easier. The price hasn't been disclosed yet, but rumor has it that it'll be higher than the <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/tag/Kindle/">Kindle</a>'s $259. BKS is staying mum on its plans in this space. There are others in the space, as well, including IREX Technologies, which is a spinoff of <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/koninklijke-philips-electronics-n-v/phg/nys" target="_blank">Royal Philips Electronics</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/koninklijke-philips-electronics-n-v/phg/nys" target="_blank">PHG</a>), Asutek (tk: tk) and a project called FirstPaper that has <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/tag/Hearst/">Hearst</a> behind it.</p>

<span style="font-style: italic;">TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer says you take your life into your own hands if you fade the opening in today's market. </span><br /><br /> A year ago with the futures up, all you could think of is how much you wanted to "fade" that opening, how great it would be just to lay out any shorts into strength. You could choose pretty much anything going into earnings season. <br /><br /> The techs? Last good quarter. The banks? A travesty. You didn't even know if the banks you are short would survive. The oils? Free fall. The metals? Amazing downward pressure coming from hedge fund redemptions. The insurers? Will they make it? Retail? The balance sheets looked terrible going into what would be a terrible holiday selling season. The autos and auto-related? Disaster. <p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/12/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-its-a-mistake-to-fade-em-now/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: It's a mistake to fade 'em now </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/12/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-its-a-mistake-to-fade-em-now/">Cramer on BloggingStocks: It's a mistake to fade 'em now </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 12 Oct 2009 09:50:00 EST. <span style="font-style: italic;">TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer says an earnings surprise from Philips, like Alcoa last week, didn't do much to put markets in gear. </span><br /><br /> Upside surprise No. 2, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/koninklijke-philips-electronics/phg/nys">Philips</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/koninklijke-philips-electronics/phg/nys">PHG</a>) (<a href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=PHG" target="blank">Cramer's Take</a>), doesn't seem to do anything more than upside surprise No. 1, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys">Alcoa</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/alcoa-inc/aa/nys">AA</a>) (<a href="http://find.thestreet.com/cgi-bin/texis/cramertake_free?site=tsc&amp;puc=aoljjc&amp;tkr=AA" target="blank">Cramer's Take</a>). That's right, we got a quick run-up for Philips when it reported a nice profit, but no follow-through from the rest of the markets in Europe after this electronics company reported. <br /><br /> Why should there be, though? Philips might as well have said "this profit is a sham" from the commentary it put out --more firings, numbers down huge from last year, terrible outlook.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/07/13/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-earnings-surprises-why-should-they/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: Earnings surprises -- why should they matter? </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/07/13/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-earnings-surprises-why-should-they/">Cramer on BloggingStocks: Earnings surprises -- why should they matter? </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 13 Jul 2009 10:00:00 EST. <p>First, I'll reiterate a previous favorite, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/general-electric-company/ge/nys"><strong>General Electric</strong></a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/general-electric-company/ge/nys">GE</a>).
