Authentidate (ADAT): Rising revenues, declining losses

Authentidate (NASDAQ: ADAT) logoInvestors looking for bargain-priced companies with emerging technology applications should give Authentidate Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: ADAT) a look.

Authentidate recently won a huge contract with Lufthansa Revenue Service in Germany to provide electronic signature and contract authentication for secure document transmission to the largest document management service in Europe.

Closer to home, Authentidate recently signed a multi-year contract with the USPS to provide secure document transmission, electronic signature authentication and encoded time stamps for business contracts. In effect, Authentidate provides a type of legally binding registered email, USPS Electronic Postmark (EPM), that will be increasingly used for business documents.

Through its Inscrybe Healthcare applications, Authentidate also provides security for health-care records and medical billing. Taken together, these two events mean good news for Authentidate and its investors.

In order to concentrate on its new business units related to secure document transmission, Authentidate has sold off units unrelated to document management. Such concentration is beginning to pay off. Authentidate recently released 4Q FY 2007 as well as FY 2007 year end results, both of which show positive signs. Revenues in 4Q FY 2007 increased 56%, which translated into FY 2007 revenue increase of 29%. The increases were due primarily to both increases in transaction volume as well as organic growth of new customers in the U.S. and Germany. Net losses narrowed substantially for both 4Q and FY 2007.

CEO Suren Paj believes Authentidate will increase its customer base significantly as more and more document transmissions occur electronically, now that there are procedures for securing and authenticating such transmissions. Small businesses that need low-cost document transmission security will benefit from the company's new product, Inscrybe Office. Shares of ADAT closed recently at $1.07.
