The editor of <a href="http://www.protiming.com/">The Professional Timing Service</a> explains, "As such, the key is to buy fear and sell comfort. Here we look at a trio of favorite closed-end funds invested in the metals sector.<br />

<p>The contributing editor to <a href="http://www.thestockadvisors.com/ccount/click.php?id=1800">The Money Map</a> explains, "We expect very strong gains in this stock to come in short order." Here, he looks at the fund management firm.</p>
<p>"The reason is very simple. If you couple some of the best minds in emerging-market investments and commodity<br />investments with a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative approach, you get consistently top-performing<br />funds with eye-popping returns.</p>
<p>"Last year, four of the firm's equity funds, - representing more than 80% of the money under management -<br />were among the top performers in the overall U.S. mutual fund universe, in the one- and 10-year time<br />periods. </p>
<p>"And in the fund-management business, strong, consistent fund performance drives growth in assets under management. And since growth in assets under management drives fees, it is no surprise that this company has<br />been able to achieve operating income growth rates of between 27% to 94% over the last 10 years.</p>
<p>"In fact, the company should see accelerating earnings growth in the second half, as the interest rates cuts favor higher commodity prices and emerging-market investments - areas in which U.S. Global's funds excel. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/03/07/money-map-points-to-growth-for-u-s-global-grow/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Money Map points to growth for U.S. Global (GROW)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/03/07/money-map-points-to-growth-for-u-s-global-grow/">Money Map points to growth for U.S. Global (GROW)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 07 Mar 2008 13:42:00 EST. <p>The editor of <a href="http://www.thestockadvisors.com/ccount/click.php?id=1738">Equity Fund Outlook</a> -- a fund advisory service that places its greatest emphasis on manager expertise -- takes a looks at a trio of mutual funds -- <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/permanent-portfolio-fund/prpfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">Permanent Portfolio</a> (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/permanent-portfolio-fund/prpfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">PRPFX</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cgm-focus-fund/cgmfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">CGM Focus</a> (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/cgm-focus-fund/cgmfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">CGMFX</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/leeb-focus-fund-class-r/lcmfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">Leeb Focus R</a> (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/leeb-focus-fund-class-r/lcmfx/nmf/charts?timeframe=50&amp;freq=1&amp;state=1&amp;te=mountain&amp;vs1=on&amp;dv1=off&amp;dr=12&amp;hs1=on&amp;ss=on&amp;ss1=on&amp;vs=on&amp;settings=1&amp;tabs=charts&amp;scs=0&amp;vl=on&amp;daysb4=0&amp;hs=on&amp;vl1=on&amp;se=default">LCMFX</a>). </p>
<p>"Permanent Portfolio is not strictly an equity fund, but does have a structured diversification that is broader than most sector funds. </p>
<p>"Preservation of buying power over all market conditions is the idea behind this unique offering, which maintains a fixed allocation of 25% in gold and silver, 10% in Swiss franc assets, 15% in U.S. and foreign real estate and natural resource companies, 15% in aggressive domestic stocks, and 35% in U.S. government paper. </p>
<p>"Permanent Portfolio has not beaten the market over very long periods, but it returned 8.5% annualized over the last fifteen calendar years vs.10.5% for the market, and over the past ten years its annualized return of 9.4% beat the market's 6.3%. It did this with a Risk Exposure half that of the market. (One reason for therecent good performance is its gold allocation.)</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/02/28/a-trio-of-outperforming-funds/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A trio of outperforming funds</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/02/28/a-trio-of-outperforming-funds/">A trio of outperforming funds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 28 Feb 2008 14:40:00 EST. <p>"There's no question that this booming growth in the emerging countries has been a huge factor driving the strongest markets," explains <strong>Pamela Aden</strong>, editor of <a href="http://www.adenforecast.com/">The Aden Forecast</a>.</p>
<p>"Three billion people are now participating in the global economy who weren't involved before and that's a dramatic force.</p>
<p>"As these countries build their infrastructure, demand for raw materials has soared. Again, this mega-trend is poised to continue, along with strong growth. </p>
<p>"My favorite conservative way to play this trend is with the <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/select-sector-spdr-materials/xlb/ase?tabs=quotesandnews">Materials Select SPDR</a> (ASE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/select-sector-spdr-materials/xlb/ase?tabs=quotesandnews">XLB</a>), which moves with the raw materials sector. Instead of picking individual stocks, this provides a good way to generally profit from what's happening globally.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/28/best-stocks-for-2008-etf-favorites-with-materials-xlb-and-bra/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best Stocks for 2008: ETF favorites with Materials (XLB) and Brazil (EWZ)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/28/best-stocks-for-2008-etf-favorites-with-materials-xlb-and-bra/">Best Stocks for 2008: ETF favorites with Materials (XLB) and Brazil (EWZ)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 28 Dec 2007 10:30:00 EST. <p>"StreetTracks Gold seeks to reflect the performance of the price of gold bullion, less the trust's expenses. The trust holds gold, and is expected to issue baskets in exchange for deposits of gold, and to distribute gold in connection with redemption of baskets. </p>
<p>"The gold held by the trust will only be sold on an as-needed basis to pay trust expenses, in the event the trust terminates and liquidates its assets, or as otherwise required by law or regulation. The trust is not managed like an active investment vehicle, and it's not registered as an investment company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. </p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/18/best-stocks-for-2008-streettracks-gold-trust-gld/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best Stocks for 2008: Top timer goes for StreetTracks Gold Trust (GLD)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/18/best-stocks-for-2008-streettracks-gold-trust-gld/">Best Stocks for 2008: Top timer goes for StreetTracks Gold Trust (GLD)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 18 Dec 2007 16:45:00 EST.
