Smucker Compan's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys">SJM</a>) shares, which I first wrote about on May 29, 2009 at a price of $40.26, have jumped above $70, and if you haven't already, now may be a good time to consider taking some profits off the table with SJM if you're in at/near $40. <br />
<br />
However, those investors who can tolerate the risk can consider maintaining their full SJM position, to go for an even bigger gain.<br />
<br />
Look for Smucker to post a healthy, 5-7% revenue gain in 2011, boosted by the addition of the Folgers coffee brand.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/08/j-m-smucker-hurdles-above-70/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>J.M. Smucker Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys">SJM</a>), a food concern in the same category as ConAgra Foods (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/conagra-foods-inc/cag/nys">CAG</a>) and Kraft Foods (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/kraft-foods-inc/kft/nys">KFT</a>), issued its fiscal third-quarter report on Thursday. The document wasn't too thrilling, but it shows that the business is holding its own in the competitive battlefield of the supermarket shelves. </p>
<p>Its adjusted profit of <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/smucker-earnings-boosted-by-higher/776742/">$1.27 per share</a> came in ahead of the overall projection by one penny. Not bad, considering the article highlights the challenges of navigating a volatile environment in terms of ingredient costs.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/19/smucker-q3-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Smucker Reports Q3 Earnings: Is the Stock a Buy?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/19/smucker-q3-earnings/">Smucker Reports Q3 Earnings: Is the Stock a Buy?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 19 Feb 2011 11:40:00 EST. <p>This week, <strong>Dell </strong>(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/dell-inc/dell/nas" class="inlinked" target="_blank">DELL</a>) highlights a handful of results from tech companies. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are looking for fourth-quarter earnings of 37 cents per share from the one of the world's top PC purveyors. That's up from 28 cents per share during the same period a year ago. Dell also is expected to report its revenue grew 5.5% year over year to $15.7 billion, for the three months that ended in January.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/13/week-in-preview-mid-quarter-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Week in Preview: Mid-Quarter Earnings (DELL, SJM, MAR, JWN)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/13/week-in-preview-mid-quarter-earnings/">Week in Preview: Mid-Quarter Earnings (DELL, SJM, MAR, JWN)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 13 Feb 2011 12:30:00 EST. <p>Hence, those investors who didn't take some profits in September, may wish to consider doing so now, as SJM is looking a bit rich at this juncture.</p>

Smucker Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys">SJM</a>) was down almost 1.4% to $62.15 at the close of the day. Volume was quite heavy. The market voted on the food entity's latest earnings report. Should investors listen to this opinion and immediately put in sell orders?</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.theflyonthewall.com/permalinks/entry.php/SJMid1333966/SJM-JM-Smucker-reports-Q-adjusted-EPS--vs-consensus-">Theflyonthewall</a>, the business, whose colleagues include ConAgra Foods, Inc. Smucker Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys">SJM</a>)'s shares, which I first wrote about <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/09/23/j-m-smucker-reels-in-profits-quietly/#continued">on May 29, 2009</a> at a price of $40.26, have recovered from a bumpy summer. In light of that, now may be a good time to consider taking some profits off the table. <br />
<br />
However, those investors who can tolerate the risk can consider holding on to their full position, to go for an even bigger gain.<br />
<br />
Look for Smucker to post a healthy, 12-15% revenue gain in FY2011, boosted by the addition of the Folgers coffee brand.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/09/24/j-m-smucker-is-it-time-to-take-some-profits-off-the-table/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>J.M. Both can be found in the foodstuffs industry. And both beat Wall Street's projections. But which one do I prefer?</p>
<p>Hormel Foods (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/hormel-foods-corporation/hrl/nys">HRL</a>), the company behind the Spam and Dinty Moore brands, made 63 cents per share in the fiscal third quarter, which, according to <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE67J23Q20100820">Reuters</a>, was three pennies ahead of the estimate. But the good news doesn't stop there: guidance for the full fiscal year was increased.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/21/hormel-and-smucker-earnings/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two Quarterly Reports: Hormel and Smucker</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/08/21/hormel-and-smucker-earnings/">Two Quarterly Reports: Hormel and Smucker</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 21 Aug 2010 09:40:00 EST. <p>The 52-week high on the stock is $63.50, so this is one of those stocks that needs to be examined in light of the recent bearish tone of the markets. Although the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/charts/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys/tech-chart">chart</a> isn't the best out there, I tend to view the relative stability of the equity as a positive element.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/17/j-m-sucker-up-on-q4-news/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Smucker Rises on Q4 News</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/06/17/j-m-sucker-up-on-q4-news/">Smucker Rises on Q4 News</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 17 Jun 2010 17:00:00 EST. Smucker (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-j-m-smucker-company/sjm/nys">SJM</a>), which I first wrote about <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/09/23/j-m-smucker-reels-in-profits-quietly/#continued">on May 29, 2009</a> at a price of $40.26, continues to progress. <br />
<br />
Earlier this spring, Smucker broke through $60 resistance before the May 6 'flash crash,' during which shares pulled-back to about $58.<br />
<br />
Market volatility aside, look for Smucker to post a healthy, 12-15% revenue gain in 2010, boosted by the addition of the Folgers coffee brand.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/19/j-m-smucker-higher-profits-ahead/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>J.M. One is a maker of a very famous ketchup product, and the other is instrumental in supplying consumers with the tools they need to put together a delicious peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich.</p>
<p>Let's start with the company responsible for the crimson condiment. H.J. Heinz Company (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/h-j-heinz-company/hnz/nys">HNZ</a>) delivered one heck of a report. The summary (of continuing operations), proudly trumpeted at the top of the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/rtn/pr/heinz-reports-strong-third-quarter-results-with-eps-from-continuing-operations-up-9percent-to-0-83/rfid303101744/?channel=pf">Q3 release</a>, is indicative of a business hitting on many, if not all, cylinders. Sales grew nearly 13%. Emerging markets were robust. Earnings came in at 83 cents per share, which was 9% higher than the comparable period's bottom line.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/02/25/two-quarterly-reports-from-the-food-sector-heinz-and-j-m-smuck/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two Quarterly Reports from the Food Sector: Heinz and J.M.
