This morning, JA Solar Holdings (JASO) announced that it has signed multiple supply agreements with "several customers" to provide solar cells in 2011. The company will supply the solar cells from January 2011 through December 2011, but they are accompanied with prepayments or the delivery.

The company's CEO Dr. Peng Fang stated, "We are seeing very strong demand for our technologically advanced, high-quality products from our diverse global customer base ... Our customers view JA Solar as a reliable supplier partner and rely on JA to provide them with their 2011 product requirements."

We're tired of bubbles, right? Anyone 30 or older has lived through two big ones so far, with a brief period of prosperity separating the decimation of dot-com largesse and mortgage-fueled paper wealth. It could take until 2014 for the jobs lost to be replenished, and there's little reason for optimism.

So, with the economy in the tank, we can focus elsewhere -- maybe on saving the planet. If we can't put green in our wallets, maybe we can add some to our lifestyles. Or, you could do both. Green technology could be the next boom in the United States, even if we do lag some parts of the world, and investing in clean solutions is really nothing other than investing in the next big thing. Even if you don't give a damn about climate change (or don't think it exists at all), the green market could likely become your employer -- or trigger the economic growth that will create your next job.

Some signs are visible already.

• LDK shares were weak on 10/3 on allegations of inconsistency in inventory reporting.
  
• LDK says: "LDK's management team and board of directors formed an internal committee to investigate the allegations and conduct an immediate physical inventory of LDK's polysilicon materials. The management team found no material discrepancies."
  
• LDK October option implied volatility of 131 is above its 12-week average of 69 according to Track Data, suggesting larger risk.
