This trend was seen across almost all companies in the solar industry, including SunPower's competitors FirstSolar (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/first-solar-inc/fslr/nas">FSLR</a>), SuntechPower (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/suntech-power-holdings-co-ltd/stp/nys">STP</a>), and Yingli Green Energy (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/yingli-green-energy-holding-company-limited-adr/yge/nys">YGE</a>).</p>

Add in higher ISM data and higher jobs data than expected, along with predictions of solid retail numbers, and we had a huge rally. A gain of more than 200 points qualifies as a huge day. <br />

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are expecting the solar concern to report net income of 49 cents per share, down from its year-ago profit of 70 cents per share. Sales for the period are expected to arrive at $491 million.</p>
<p>SunPower has a solid history in the earnings spotlight, having exceeded Wall Street's consensus expectations in three of the past four reporting periods. This could be a big turning point for global warming. Having been caught in a lie; they have lost massive amount of creditability and now face an uphill battle to convince a skeptical public. SunRay is a European solar power plant developer. If you think that the stock won't fall by too much in the coming months, then now could be a good time to look at a bullish hedged trade on SPRWA.<br />

The firm upgraded the stock due to valuation, and its belief that the company will clear up issues related to its merger on its Analyst Day, scheduled for Dec. 7. The firm set a $28 target on the stock. </li>
    <li>Citigroup upgraded Smith International (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/smith-international-inc/sii/nys">SII</a>) to buy from hold, citing the sell-off in shares following its 28M share equity offering. Note that Smith International priced 28M shares Tuesday at $26.50. </li>
    <li>Wells Fargo upgraded DynCorp (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/dyncorp-international-inc/dcp/nys">DCP</a>) to outperform from market perform. The firm upgraded the stock on valuation, and because it believes that the impact on DynCorp of a possible indictment of PWC will be minimal, if any. </li>
    <li>Rockwell (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/rockwell-automation-inc/rok/nys">ROK</a>) was upgraded to overweight from neutral at HSBC. </li>
    <li>Omega Healthcare (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/omega-healthcare-investors-inc/ohi/nys">OHI</a>) was upgraded to outperform from market perform at JMP Securities. </li>
    <li>Analog Devices (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/analog-devices-inc/adi/nys">ADI</a>) was upgraded to conviction buy from buy at Goldman. </li>

The firm, which raised its target to $92 from $90, expects Exxon to have organic growth of more than 3% in 2010 and an average growth rate of 2.6% between 2009 and 2013. </li>
    <li>Kaufman Bros. upgraded Palm (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/palm-inc-new/palm/nas">PALM</a>) to buy from hold citing the recent pullback in shares and indications that Verizon (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/verizon-communications-inc/vz/nys">VZ</a>) will carry webOS phones as early as 1H10. The firm has a $16 target on the stock. </li>
    <li>Piper Jaffray raised Medicis (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/mrx/nys">MRX</a>) to neutral from underweight and raised its target to $20 from $16. Following a management meeting, Piper said they have increased confidence in Soldyn risk and LipoSonix's safety profile. </li>
    <li>Illinois Tool Works (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/illinois-tool-works-inc/itw/nys">ITW</a>) was upgraded to buy from neutral at UBS. </li>
    <li>Devon Energy (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/devon-energy-corporation/dvn/nys">DVN</a>) was upgraded to outperform from market perform at Wells Fargo. </li>
    <li>Carmike Cinemas (<a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/carmike-cinemas-inc/ckec/nas">CKEC</a>) was upgraded to buy from neutral at Merriman. </li>

    <li>Jefferies upgraded <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/warner-chilcott-plc-ordinary/wcrx/nas">Warner Chilcott</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/warner-chilcott-plc-ordinary/wcrx/nas">WCRX</a>) to Buy from Hold. The firm views Warner Chilcott's acquisition of <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-procter-and-gamble-company/pg/nys">P&amp;G</a>'s (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-procter-and-gamble-company/pg/nys">PG</a>) pharma business as a positive given its attractive product fit and purchase price. </li>
    <li>ThinkEquity upgraded <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/google-inc/goog/nas">Google</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/google-inc/goog/nas">GOOG</a>) to Buy from Source of Funds and raised its target to $550 from $400. Previously, the firm thought Google Street estimates were too high and that low single-digit growth in Q2 and Q3 would cause multiple contraction. They said their thesis played out fundamentally but they were wrong on the stock. Given Q2 has past, the analyst raised estimates above consensus and expects an in-line Q3 and for shares to outperform as the economic cycle turns. </li>
    <li>Bernstein upgraded <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/diageo-plc-ads-new/deo/nys">Diageo</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/diageo-plc-ads-new/deo/nys">DEO</a>) to Outperform from Market Perform and views Diageo's valuation as attractive. The firm expects 2H09 results on August 27 to mark a bottom in weakening top-line trends. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/costco-wholesale-corporation/cost/nas">Costco</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/costco-wholesale-corporation/cost/nas">COST</a>) was upgraded to Market Perform from Underperform at William Blair. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lowe-s-companies-inc/low/nys">Lowe's</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lowe-s-companies-inc/low/nys">LOW</a>) was upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley. </li>
    <li><a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/siemens-aktiengesellschaft/si/nys">Siemens</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/siemens-aktiengesellschaft/si/nys">SI</a>) was upgraded to Buy from Neutral at BofA/Merrill. </li>
