One month ago, we featured a special report featuring the favorite China-based stocks among financial newsletter advisors. Since then, the 14 stocks covered in the report have risen an average of more than 15%.

American Italian Pasta Company (NASDAQ: AIPC) has caught the attention of two leading advisors -- Dennis Slothower and Elizabeth Harrow.

"Con Edison, our latest 'stockj of the month' provides electric service to about 3.2 million customers and gas service to approximately 1.1 million customers in New York City and Westchester County.

"It also provides electric service to 300,000 customers in southeastern New York and adjacent areas of northern New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

"Con Edison's competitive energy businesses participate in segments of the electricity industry that are less comprehensively regulated than our regulated businesses.

"These segments include the operation of electric generation facilities, trading of electricity and fuel, sales of electricity to wholesale and retail customers, and sales of certain energy-related goods and services.

"I can't tell you how tough it is to find and recommend a company based on my strict selection criteria. I have never seen so many stocks in my universe in steep down trends. While there are some good companies paying high dividends, their stocks are in a free fall.

"Con Edison is a strong utility company that I feel confident will continue to pay a nice fat dividend. The 10-year U.S. Treasury bond is yielding about 4%, while Con Ed's dividend is yielding 5.3%. We get a good combination in Con Ed: a high yield and possible increase in the stock price."

"Over the past five decades or so, the company has become the country's leader in the distribution of oil products, an activity not covered by the government monopoly, and today it is internationally acknowledged as the eighth-largest oil company in the world.

"Leading the sector in the development of one of the most advanced deepwater and ultra-deepwater technologies for oil production, PBR was twice (in 1992 and 2001) awarded the Offshore Technology Company (OTC) prize, the most important award in the sector.

"If you are looking for an excellent technology company with plenty of upside potential, I recommend L.G. Philips LCD Co, LTD (NYSE: LPL)," my favorite aggressive speculation for 2008," says Dennis Slothower, editor of Stealth Stocks.

"The company, located in South Korea, is the world's largest merchant supplier of large-size TFT-LCD panels, primarily used in high-definition televisions, notebook computers, desktop monitors, cell phones and other applications.

"Its display panels are included in products sold by LG Electronics, Philips Electronics, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba, and Apple, among others.

"LPL is at the cutting edge of technology and is benefiting from the insatiable demand for consumer electronics. It is also currently trading at low valuations based on sales and book value. At $28 a share LPL is trading only 1.4X sales and 2.4X book value.

"The company has $1.8 billion in cash on its balance sheets and sales are growing at 43% growth rate. Over the trailing 12 months, sales reached more than $14 billion. The intrinsic value on this stock is in the $50 to $60 range, which I see hitting in the next two or three years."

Growth expert Dennis Slothower has chosen Vodafone Group (NYSE: VOD) as the latest "stock of the month" in his Stealth Stocks newsletter.

He notes that the London-based firm is a world leader in providing voice and data communications services for both consumer and enterprise customers, with a significant presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Pacific and the United States.

Indeed, he points out, the company has equity interests in 25 countries; partner market arrangements extend the group's footprint to an additional 38 countries with 206 million mobile communications customers.

He explains, "Vodaphone Group is continually developing and enhancing service offerings, particularly through third-generation (3G) mobile technology, which has been deployed in the majority of its operations."

With interest rates falling, he observes, the technology sector is leading the way and the wireless sector is leading the technology sector. And the company, he says, has grown earnings over the past year at a 25% rate.

Says Slothower, "This stock has everything I like: international exposure, a 2.5% dividend and a low P/E ratio. I would not be surprised to see VOD double over the next 18 months."

According to my numbers, he contends, Vodafone should be selling in the $70 range over the next three to five years. He concludes, "It is currently trading in the low $30 range, so VOD has a large upside potential. Place a sell stop at 25% below your entry price. As the stock rises, continue to raise your stop."
