This trend was seen across almost all companies in the solar industry, including SunPower's competitors FirstSolar (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/first-solar-inc/fslr/nas">FSLR</a>), SuntechPower (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/suntech-power-holdings-co-ltd/stp/nys">STP</a>), and Yingli Green Energy (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/yingli-green-energy-holding-company-limited-adr/yge/nys">YGE</a>).</p>
<p>Our price estimate for <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=SPWRA.trefis">SunPower's stock is at $14.41</a>, about 10% below its current market price.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/22/sunpowers-outlook-brightens-as-concerns-on-nuclear-rise/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SunPower's Outlook Brightens as Concerns on Nuclear Rise</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/22/sunpowers-outlook-brightens-as-concerns-on-nuclear-rise/">SunPower's Outlook Brightens as Concerns on Nuclear Rise</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 22 Mar 2011 10:00:00 EST. <br />
The editor of <a href="http://www.completeinvestor.com/">The Complete Investor</a> observes, "So you would think manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) cells and systems would be winning the favor of investors as well. But that hasn't been the case-far from it.<br />
<br />
"Rather, shares of many solar manufacturers, including Suntech Power (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/suntech-power-holdings-co-ltd/stp/nys">STP</a>), have been hitting the skids.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/suntech-power-stp-shining-opportunity/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Suntech Power (STP): Shining Opportunity?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/suntech-power-stp-shining-opportunity/">Suntech Power (STP): Shining Opportunity?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 10:40:00 EST. Gold was hitting fresh highs and European woes were discounted again. We are seeing the risk trade come in full force, although many of the sectors were soft. Late-day selling in the DJIA and S&amp;P500 made for a close in the red, but this was close to red and black for most of the afternoon session after a fairly weak open. <br />

Here are today's unofficial closing bell levels:<br />

S&amp;P 500 1,223.12 -1.59 (-0.13%)  <br />
Nasdaq 2,594.92 +3.46 (0.13%)<br />

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/suntech-power-holdings-co-ltd/stp/nys">STP</a>), first discussed here on July 28, 2009 at a price of $19.24, was stopped-out at $8 in late August, for an 11-point loss.</p>
<p>Suntech's shares, a high-risk stock, had recovered <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=stp&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details%3fSymbol%3dpot">to about $11</a> in mid-summer after plunging in bear-hug fashion this spring from about $16 to $8.40.</p>
<p>The calculation <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/07/22/suntech-power-not-for-squeamish-investors/#continued">in the summer</a> was that photovoltaic cell manufacturer Suntech's long-term business prospects in China would offset short-term hits to revenue, due to price declines.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/suntech-power-stopped-out-for-loss/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Suntech Power: Stopped-Out for Loss</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/11/12/suntech-power-stopped-out-for-loss/">Suntech Power: Stopped-Out for Loss</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 16:45:00 EST. Here's why.</p>
<p>The stock chart of Suntech, a company expected to benefit from China's solar subsidy program, as well as U.S. government initiatives to invest in renewable energy, had formed a bear hug -- a bearish pattern in October. However, the stock held key, psychological support <a href="http://clearstation.etrade.com/cgi-bin/details?Symbol=stp&amp;Refer=http://clearstation.etrade.com/">at $10</a> in November -- it actually fell to only $11.90 or so, and has since rebounded, breaking the downtrend of the bear hug.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/18/suntech-power-upgraded-to-buy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Suntech Power: Upgraded to Buy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/01/18/suntech-power-upgraded-to-buy/">Suntech Power: Upgraded to Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 18 Jan 2010 10:30:00 EST. The country's largest solar panel maker recently took steps to increase its hold on the Chinese solar market when it reached an agreement with a unit of China Huadian Corp. to develop 500MW of solar projects in China.</p>
<p>The collaboration between Suntech and China Huadian New Energy Development Co. could include some of the 1.8 gigawatts of Chinese projects Suntech recently announced. According to the company, the projects resulting from those agreements could be installed between 2010 and 2012. This deal means a solid pipeline of earnings for the solar maker, and that could translate into solid earnings going forward.</p>

Further, reduced selling prices moving forward should increase demand for Suntech's products.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/07/28/suntech-a-worthy-solar-play/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Suntech: A worthy solar play</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/07/28/suntech-a-worthy-solar-play/">Suntech: A worthy solar play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 13:50:00 EST.
