While not as exciting as reading Tim Ferriss' <a href="http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/"><em>4-Hour Work Week</em></a> and some of the radical lifestyle experimentation he writes about on his blog, I stumbled upon a company whose IPO I missed, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/success-finl-services-grp-inc/sfsf/nas">SuccessFactors</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/success-finl-services-grp-inc/sfsf/nas">SFSF</a>).</p>
<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2007/12/19/software-as-a-service-i-do-concur-cnqr/">I've written before</a> about new Software as a Service (SaaS) firms like <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/salesforce-com-inc/crm/nys">Salesforce.com</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/salesforce-com-inc/crm/nys">CRM</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/concur-technologies-inc/cnqr/nas">Concur Technologies</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/concur-technologies-inc/cnqr/nas">CNQR</a>) that deliver their software via the internet. Companies employing the software typically rent it and pay as they use it. The software is hosted, which means the software provider manages updates and versions.</p>
<p>I thought it would be worthwhile summarizing some of the research put out this week on the firm by the likes of JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/06/successfactors-sfsf-investing-in-the-future-of-hr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SuccessFactors (SFSF): Investing in the future of HR</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/01/06/successfactors-sfsf-investing-in-the-future-of-hr/">SuccessFactors (SFSF): Investing in the future of HR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 06 Jan 2008 13:40:00 EST. It means delivering software via the Net and charging a subscription fee.<br /><br />Now, these companies are starting to hit the IPO market.<br /><br />And the latest <a href="http://www.dealprofiles.com/ipoprofile.htm?CompanyID=89">filing</a> comes from <a href="http://www.successfactors.com">SuccessFactors</a>, which develops applications for performance and talent management. There are more than 1,300 customers and some of the biggies include <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lowe-s-companies-inc/low/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Lowe's Cos.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/lowe-s-companies-inc/low/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">LOW</a>), Quintiles Transnational, T-Mobile, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/wachovia-corporation/wb/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Wachovia Corp.</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/wachovia-corporation/wb/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">WB</a>). <br /><br />The software from SuccessFactors helps with such things as: employee performance appraisal, goal management, recruiting, compensation management, and so on. <br /><br />From 2005 to 2006, revenues increased from $13 million to $32.5 million. Although SuccessFactors is still losing money.<br /><br />Also, the competitive environment is intense. Some of the rivals include Authoria, Cornerstone OnDemand, Halogen Software, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">Oracle Corp.</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/oracle-corporation/orcl/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">ORCL</a>), <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/sap-aktiengesellschaft/sap/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">SAP </a>(NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/sap-aktiengesellschaft/sap/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">SAP</a>), and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/taleo-corporation-cl-a/tleo/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">Taleo Corp.</a> (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/taleo-corporation-cl-a/tleo/nas?tabs=quotesandnews">TLEO</a>).<br /><br />The underwriters include <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/morgan-stanley/ms/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Morgan Stanley</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/morgan-stanley/ms/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">MS</a>) and <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-goldman-sachs-group-inc/gs/nys?tabs=quotesandnews">Goldman Sachs Group Inc</a>.
