However, Apple has <a href="http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110330PD216.html">agreed</a> to absorb the additional costs related to components in exchange for smooth shipments. Although Apple's profitability could be slightly impacted due to higher costs, we believe it's still a market share game for Apple's hit products like the new iPad 2 and so ensuring on time deliveries will put more pressure on the likes of <a href="http://finapps.forbes.com/finapps/jsp/finance/compinfo/CIAtAGlance.jsp?tkr=mmi&amp;tab=searchtabquotesdark">Motorola Mobility</a> and <a href="http://finapps.forbes.com/finapps/jsp/finance/compinfo/CIAtAGlance.jsp?tkr=rimm&amp;tab=searchtabquotesdark">Research in Motion</a> that are trying to work their way into the tablet market. We maintain <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=AAPL.trefis">$420 price estimate for Apple stock</a>, which is about 20% above market price.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/07/apples-move-to-absorb-higher-component-costs-will-help-ipad-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Apple's Move to Absorb Higher Component Costs Will Help iPad 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/07/apples-move-to-absorb-higher-component-costs-will-help-ipad-2/">Apple's Move to Absorb Higher Component Costs Will Help iPad 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 07 Apr 2011 11:00:00 EST. His empire spans 18 countries and has 200 million subscribers.<br />
<br />
Let's look at America Movil's spectacular growth. The company's markets are primarily in Latin America. American Movil controls 74% of wireless service in Mexico under its Telcel brand, which has 60 million subscribers. Brazil is second with 45 million subscribers. It also is the largest provider in the Caribbean with four million users.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/america-movil-to-expand-growth-with-pre-paid-data-plans/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>America Movil to Expand Growth with Pre-Paid Data Plans</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/05/america-movil-to-expand-growth-with-pre-paid-data-plans/">America Movil to Expand Growth with Pre-Paid Data Plans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 17:00:00 EST. Since it is a private company, it is not required to disclose its partners. Once and a while we learn about an individual or company that has a piece of the company.<br />
<br />
Not only is it difficult to find out who owns a stake in Facebook, it is equally difficult to ascertain the value of the company. The numbers keep going up and up. For example, Microsoft (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas" class="inlinked">MSFT</a>) invested $240 million when the company was valued at $15 billion. <br />
<br />
Interpublic <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/the-interpublic-group-of-companies-inc/ipg/nys">(INPGP</a>), the advertising conglomerate, bought 1/2% of Facebook for $5 million, in 2006. As the value of the company went up, so did Interpublic's investment. When the Facebook investment appreciated, Interpublic was forced to disclose the information to the SEC, as reported in the <a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/e1f2c458-5e14-11e0-b1d8-00144feab49a.html#axzz1IVn2rVaL"><em>Financial Times</em></a>.<br />

Let's take the explosion of mobile data. Smartphones and iPhones are creating a huge traffic jam in wireless communication. At present we are using fixed cell towers to transmit data from towers to the Internet. <br />
<br />
The need to handle the mobile explosion is putting extreme pressure on present tower operators to upgrade their equipment or build new towers. This is a cumbersome, time consuming process.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/03/03/alcatel-lucent-launches-tiny-new-cell-phone-antenna-system/">Alcatel-Lucent Launches Tiny New Cell Phone Antenna System</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 03 Mar 2011 15:30:00 EST. You've heard that the star is ill and may not be in this performance. You look at the playbill to see who will fill in. And now the show begins.<br />
<br />
No, it's not Broadway, it's Apple's (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked" injectedlink="">AAPL</a>) new <a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.aolnews.com/tag/ipad/">iPad</a>. The same anticipation was there. Participants were wondering if <a injectedlink="" class="inlinked" href="http://www.aolnews.com/tag/steve+jobs/">Steve Jobs</a> will appear on stage or whether Tim Cook, the man who runs the company in Jobs's absence, will be in this performance. <br />
The company is on the move again -- and Google's Android is leading the way. Google sees the next leg of the Internet revolution in the smart phone, tablet and e-reader market -- and there's already a fierce battle raging. Google's Android is making inroads into the iPhone turf. How deep is the penetration? Singapore research firm Canalys said, "<a href="http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-02-14/google-s-android-is-the-next-windows-volpi-says.html">Google shipped twice as many devices as Apple's iPhone.</a> in the fourth quarter," capturing 33% of shipments, up from 8.7% a year ago.<br />

As the industry grew, new companies formed but most went by the wayside. The same phenomenon is taking place in the Internet. As new companies are formed, older ones fade away.<br />

Such is the story of MySpace, as the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703791904576075892399066126.html?mod=WSJ_business_whatsNews#"><em>Wall Street Journal</em></a><em> </em>reports. Today the communications firm started to introduce details about the release. The first question to answer is when the iPhone will be released - which is <a target="_blank" href="http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/iphone.jsp">February 10 according to Verizon's Internet site</a>. <em>MarketWatch</em> reported that the iPhone 4 will be available for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/verizon-to-launch-iphone-4-in-february-2011-01-11">pre-order on February 3</a>. <br />
<br />
The popular smartphone will cost $199 for the 16GB version and $99 for the 32GB version. These are the same price points for the device on the AT&amp;T (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/atandt-inc/t/nys">T</a>) network. One difference between the carrier's versions is that the Verizon version will also work as a wi-fi hotspot (with credit to the <em>Engadget</em> blog's <a target="_blank" href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/11/live-from-verizons-iphone-event/?sort=newest&amp;refresh=60">live coverage</a> of the event). This mobile hotspot will be able to support up to five different devices. <p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/11/verizon-releases-details-on-the-iphone-release/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Verizon Releases Details on the iPhone Release</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/11/verizon-releases-details-on-the-iphone-release/">Verizon Releases Details on the iPhone Release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 11 Jan 2011 13:30:00 EST. It said Wednesday it has agreed to purchase Atheros Communications (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/atheros-communications-inc/athr/nas">ATHR</a>) for $3.2 billion, as reported by the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/investing/qualcomm-to-buy-atheros-in-3-2-billion-deal/19787685/">Associated Press</a>. Why is Qualcomm making this deal? What are the advantages to the company?</p>

This announcement comes during a series of quarters in which the company has seen record sales, thanks to rising demand stemming from a perceived economic rebound.</p>
<p>One analyst calls this news, "evidence of a cyclical inventory correction that we'd been expecting and have talked about previously." Nevertheless, the same analyst said that it could take longer than Xilinx had previously estimated for inventory to come back to better levels.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/22/xilinx-cuts-third-quarter-sales-forecast/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Xilinx Cuts Third-Quarter Sales Forecast</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/12/22/xilinx-cuts-third-quarter-sales-forecast/">Xilinx Cuts Third-Quarter Sales Forecast</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 22 Dec 2010 12:30:00 EST. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>) has been having great success with its iPad since it was released earlier this year, but over the next couple of years it could see its market share come under <a href="http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/10/android-tablets-will-beat-ipad/">increased pressure</a> from Google, Inc. <br />
Since launching the iPad, Apple has sold over 3 million units, but according to Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, over the next couple of years, Android tablets could easily overtake the iPad in market share.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/12/apple-ipad-to-face-tough-competition-from-android-tablets/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Apple iPad to Face Tough Competition from Android Tablets</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/10/12/apple-ipad-to-face-tough-competition-from-android-tablets/">Apple iPad to Face Tough Competition from Android Tablets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 12 Oct 2010 17:30:00 EST.
