It will pay $300 million in cash, the rest in stock for the news website. <br />
<br />
When The Huffington Post raised money just over a year ago, the value of the site was rumored to be $125 million. It has 25 million unique users a month, according to Comscore figures. AOL has just over 90 million. The combined user bases could push the total ahead of MSN, the Microsoft (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/microsoft-corporation/msft/nas">MSFT</a>) portal, and perhaps Yahoo! (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/yahoo-inc/yhoo/nas">YHOO</a>). <br />
<br />
AOL, the parent company of <em>BloggingStocks,</em> said <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/news/AOL-Agrees-to-Acquire-The-bw-755103923.html?x=0&amp;.v=1">in a release</a> that Arianna Huffington would lead the newly formed Huffington Post Media Group, which will integrate all the content from The Huffington Post and AOL sites, from politics and finance to Moviefone and Mapquest.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/07/aol-buys-huffington-post/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AOL Buys Huffington Post: A New Era of Online News</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/02/07/aol-buys-huffington-post/">AOL Buys Huffington Post: A New Era of Online News</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Mon, 07 Feb 2011 09:00:00 EST. The co-founder of the search engine giant <a href="http://blogs.reuters.com/mediafile/2009/10/23/googles-brin-clears-the-air-sort-of-on-twitter/" target="_blank">made a surprise appearance</a> at Web 2.0 Thursday, where organizer John Battelle asked point blank if he'd made a move for the popular <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/tag/microblogging/">microblogging</a> website.</p>
<p>Of course, Brin revealed his fluency in corporate speak, continuing, "But if companies approach us we definitely consider any opportunities to buy," <a href="http://blogs.reuters.com/mediafile/2009/10/23/googles-brin-clears-the-air-sort-of-on-twitter/" target="_blank">according to Reuters</a>. <p>Given that there was plenty of bad news, and some of the good news was suspect, I think investors simply decided "it is better to light one small candle than curse the darkness." <br /></p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/03/13/bulls-and-armstrong-take-over-buffett-and-ge-take-their-medicine/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bulls &amp; Armstrong take over, Buffett &amp; GE take their medicine</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/03/13/bulls-and-armstrong-take-over-buffett-and-ge-take-their-medicine/">Bulls &amp; Armstrong take over, Buffett &amp; GE take their medicine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST.
