The improved tubular products would see a wider range of applications and has the potential to add significant value to U.S. Steel by increasing the shipment figures for the company in the years to come. The company competes with international steel giants like ArcelorMittal (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/arcelormittal-sa-luxembourg/mt/nys" class="inlinked">MT</a>), BaoSteel, Posco, Nippon Steel (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/nippon-steel-crp-unsp-adr/nisty/nao">NISTY</a>) and ThyssenKrupp.</p>
<p>Our <a href="https://www.trefis.com/company?hm=X.trefis">price estimate for U.S. Steel stands at $60.17</a>, roughly 7% ahead of its current market price.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/u-s-steel-gets-high-tech/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>U.S. Steel Gets High Tech to Improve Tubular Pipes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/u-s-steel-gets-high-tech/">U.S. Steel Gets High Tech to Improve Tubular Pipes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 01 Apr 2011 12:20:00 EST. <p>In the past, iron ore pricing was largely set on an annual basis, with the first negotiated ore contracts of the season setting the price for the duration of that season. However, this year, the three largest iron ore miners, BHP Billiton (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/bhp-billiton-limited/bhp/nys">BHP</a>), Rio Tinto (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/rio-tinto-plc/rtp/nys">RTP</a>) and Vale SA (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/vale-s-a/vale/nys">VALE</a>), have decided that they will seek quarterly renegotiation of ore contract pricing. This will allow those companies to take better advantage of increases in iron ore demand and spikes in spot prices.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/04/new-iron-ore-pricing-scheme-should-be-good-for-american-steel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Iron Ore Pricing Scheme Should Be Good for American Steel</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/04/04/new-iron-ore-pricing-scheme-should-be-good-for-american-steel/">New Iron Ore Pricing Scheme Should Be Good for American Steel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 04 Apr 2010 14:40:00 EST. But for U.S. Steel, it was the third straight quarterly loss as the economic downturn continued to drag down demand.</p>
<p>For the three months that ended in September, U.S. Steel said it <a href="http://news.aol.com/article/us-steel-posts-3rd-straight-quarterly/591798">lost $303 million</a>, or $2.11 per share. That compares with a profit of $919 million, or $7.79 per share, in the same period of last year. Revenue for the quarter fell 61% to $2.82 billion. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a loss of $2.87 per share on revenue of $2.72 billion.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/27/ak-steel-u-s-steel-report-better-than-expected-q3-results/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AK Steel, U.S. Steel report better-than-expected Q3 results</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/27/ak-steel-u-s-steel-report-better-than-expected-q3-results/">AK Steel, U.S. Steel report better-than-expected Q3 results</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 27 Oct 2009 17:45:00 EST. What does that mean for continued growth in China and also for the global copper market? <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"> A.</span> China and indeed much of Asia and the Middle East are in a generational-long period where they have to build infrastructure from the ground up. The push for educating, housing, transporting and employing large young populations requires massive investment, fueling demand for commodities across the boards. <br /><br /> The supply side was completely taken unawares by this demand following the 20-year crushing bear market that cut exploration budgets to the bone. That is now changing, as major mining groups compete for the best resources, particularly in politically stable parts of the world.<br /><br /> China continues to lead the world in terms of GDP growth, although it has recently manufactured a slowdown to combat rising inflation, generally positive for the economy.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/13/global-q-and-a-conserve-your-resources/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Global Q &amp; A: Conserve your resources</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/08/13/global-q-and-a-conserve-your-resources/">Global Q &amp; A: Conserve your resources</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 13 Aug 2008 17:55:00 EST. But as they say, the trend is up unless proven otherwise, and we might take this into account when picking our trades. For example, back in April, it looked like <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-mosaic-company/mos/nys">Mosaic Co</a>. (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/the-mosaic-company/mos/nys">MOS</a>) was facing technical weakness, but this did not last long and the company was able to rebound.<br /><br />Now let's take a took at the coal sector. Data shows that the Dow Jones U.S. coal index gas gained more than 50% for the past year. While <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/james-river-coal-company/jrcc/nas">James River Coal Co</a>. (NASDAQ: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/james-river-coal-company/jrcc/nas">JRCC</a>) has quadrupled this year, <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/peabody-energy-corporation/btu/nys">Peabody Energy Corp</a>. (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/peabody-energy-corporation/btu/nys">BTU</a>) has been seeing some weakness, and this might be a sign that the sector could face tough times ahead. The first concern tied to supply and demand appeared for Peabody when we began to notice that volume on rally days slipped, while volume on declining days has increased.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/06/17/barrons-offers-a-survey-of-momentum-plays-in-hot-sectors/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Barron's offers a survey of momentum plays in hot sectors</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/06/17/barrons-offers-a-survey-of-momentum-plays-in-hot-sectors/">Barron's offers a survey of momentum plays in hot sectors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Tue, 17 Jun 2008 15:56:00 EST.
