Needless to add, if you haven't already, now may be a good time to consider taking some profits if you're in near $43.</p>
<p>However, those investors who can tolerate the risk can maintain their full position in UNP, but keep in mind that the journey to $120 probably will not be completed in 2011.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/will-union-pacific-break-through-100/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Will Union Pacific Break Through $100?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/04/01/will-union-pacific-break-through-100/">Will Union Pacific Break Through $100?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Fri, 01 Apr 2011 13:30:00 EST. This stands to benefit companies such as CSX (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/csx-corporation/csx/nys">CSX</a>), Union Pacific (<a class="inlinked" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/union-pacific-corporation/unp/nys">UNP</a>), Norfolk Southern (NSE) and Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.A) Burlington Northern Santa Fe.</p>
<p>PTC technology will automatically stop the train if a conductor misses its stop signal, coming in light of a 2008 train collision which killed 25 people.</p>
<p>This could possibly add 25% to CSX's free cash flow, which at these levels would make CSX and other rail companies undervalued by these metrics.</p>

(<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/union-pacific-corporation/unp/nys">UNP</a>), a railway concern whose colleagues include CSX Corp. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/csx-corporation/csx/nys">CSX</a>) and Norfolk Southern Corp. (<a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/norfolk-southern-corporation/nsc/nys">NSC</a>), was down 2.6% to $94.78 at one point during today's afternoon session. Why is the market unhappy with the stock? The catalyst was an earnings report. Were the numbers so bad? <br />
<br />
After reading a summary of the company's fourth quarter by the <a href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/article/up-4q-profit-surges-41-percent-on-higher/442539/">Associated Press</a>, I came away thinking that the stats were actually quite attractive. Net income jumped 44% to $1.56 per share. This figure was eight pennies ahead of the overall projection.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/20/union-pacific-down-following-quarterly-report/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Union Pacific Down Following Quarterly Report</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2011/01/20/union-pacific-down-following-quarterly-report/">Union Pacific Down Following Quarterly Report</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Thu, 20 Jan 2011 15:30:00 EST. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters foresee strong reports from such big names as Apple (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/apple-inc/aapl/nas" class="inlinked">AAPL</a>), eBay (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/ebay-inc/ebay/nas" class="inlinked">EBAY</a>), IBM (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/international-business-machines-corporation/ibm/nys">IBM</a>), General Electric (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/general-electric-company/ge/nys" class="inlinked">GE</a>), Google (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/google-inc/goog/nas">GOOG</a>), Schlumberger (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/schlumberger-ltd-netherlands-antilles/slb/nys" class="inlinked">SLB</a>) and Southwest Airlines (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/southwest-airlines-co/luv/nys" class="inlinked">LUV</a>). And fast on the heels of last week's <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/jpmorgan-earnings-the-return-of-big-bank-profits/19801174/">big earnings beat</a> from JPMorgan Chase (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/jpmorgan-chase-and-co/jpm/nys" class="inlinked">JPM</a>), there will be plenty more results from the financial sector to peruse this week.</p>
<p>Among the financials expected to post double-digit earnings growth this week are Capital One Financial (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/capital-one-financial-corporation/cof/nys" class="inlinked">COF</a>), Morgan Stanley (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.dailyfinance.com/quotes/morgan-stanley/ms/nys" class="inlinked">MS</a>), SLM Corp. Although it appears that only a small amount of environmental damage was done, how will the reaction to this news play out in the markets through the coming week?</p>
<p>I'm very thankful that this most recent oil rig accident happened late on a Friday. I certainly believe that if this accident had happened a few hours earlier in the day, I probably wouldn't have liked to witness the way the markets reacted. Now, we have two days to absorb the news of what has happened before full-scale trading resumes. Really, I'm very happy about that.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/01/second-oil-rig-accident-signals-a-fundamental-economic-shift/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Second Oil Rig Accident Signals a Fundamental Economic Shift?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2010/05/01/second-oil-rig-accident-signals-a-fundamental-economic-shift/">Second Oil Rig Accident Signals a Fundamental Economic Shift?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sat, 01 May 2010 14:40:00 EST. <em>The Street.com's Jim Cramer says that he's making it his mission in 2010 to call out people in the media who provide no value. </em><br />
<br />
Have you ever noticed that with every good housing report there are endless caveats: <br />
<br />
1. Prices are still down year over year.<br />
<br />
2. The home tax credit of $8,000 moved the house, and that will go away.<br />
<br />
3. Home mortgages are artificially low because of the Fed.<br />
<br />
4. Banks have more foreclosures on their balance sheets than before.<br />
<br />
5. Foreclosures continue to occur.<br />
<br />
6. Everything will slip back to imbalance when the credit goes away.<p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/23/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-endless-caveats-dont-make-you-any-mon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cramer on BloggingStocks: Endless Caveats Don't Make You Any Money</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/12/23/cramer-on-bloggingstocks-endless-caveats-dont-make-you-any-mon/">Cramer on BloggingStocks: Endless Caveats Don't Make You Any Money</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 10:00:00 EST. Good advice for the card, perhaps, but what about the company? Should your portfolio leave home and forget this stock? I'd say so. It's not that American Express lost the earnings game. On the contrary, <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&amp;sid=aOyohRcoP3tg">Bloomberg</a> reported a beat. American Express earned 44 cents per share from continuing operations, adjusted. This was six pennies ahead of forecasts. Okay, I applaud such performance. And shares are way off the single-digit 52-week low. Thing is, I'm in love with another card business. <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/visa-inc/v/nys">Visa</a> (NYSE: <a href="http://finance.aol.com/quotes/visa-inc/v/nys">V</a>). As <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/10/31/im-bullish-on-visa/">I've stated before</a>, I enjoy the beauty of Visa's lower-risk model. It doesn't have to put up with loan risk. Yes, the situation at American Express might be improving, but I'm not going to buy this one.</p><p><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/25/quick-opinions-on-some-quarterly-earnings-axp-mrk-mcd-nyt-u/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Quick opinions on some quarterly earnings: AXP, MRK, MCD, NYT, UP ...</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/10/25/quick-opinions-on-some-quarterly-earnings-axp-mrk-mcd-nyt-u/">Quick opinions on some quarterly earnings: AXP, MRK, MCD, NYT, UP ...</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.bloggingstocks.com">BloggingStocks</a> on Sun, 25 Oct 2009 10:20:00 EST. <p>What was so good about the data? The analyst community was counting on 71 cents per share. Perhaps more importantly, management seemed pretty upbeat on the state of the economy.
